As my campaign team has traveled around the State, we've been asked several of the same questions. As voters, we feel you have a right to know where Eric Deaton stands on the issues and have your questions answered. Although the answers to these questions are easy to find on this web site throughout Eric's issue specific position papers and buried in the dozens of surveys posted here, we thought it would benefit everyone if we included a few of them. We still encourage you to investigate Mr. Deaton's positions so you will know who you are voting for and just ask that you vote for the best person on November 2nd. Some of these questions have included, "Why are you doing this?" "Who is Eric Deaton?" and "What is your experience?"
First off, I have decided to run for the U.S. Senate for several reasons. The most obvious reason is that our nation's two party system has been systematically destroying the very fiber of our nation and this has gone unchecked for nearly 100 years. Our federal government now regulates and controls nearly every aspect of our lives through mandates, entitlements and social programs. These controls are largely unconstitutional in nature and counterproductive to the American system that made us the fastest growing nation the world has ever seen. I see failure for our nation on the horizon with our Constitutional Republic on the ropes, the American dream dying and our God-given rights being squandered. I refuse to wake up in 15 years and think that I didn't do everything I could to save the country our founding fathers gave us.
As for who Eric Deaton is, that is simple: “I'm a husband, a father, a Christian, a tax-payer, a Cub Scout leader, a sportsman and I have been an electrical engineer for 20 years. It's time for people of integrity with the character to stand up for truly American principles, to serve our nation.”
